Lithos is a world about the size and gravity of Earth. It has a colder climate due to it just leaving a relatively recent ice age. While there are several large continents on its surface only one has been extensively settled by humanity.
Over the thousand years people have lived on Lithos there have been some Earth species introduced, mostly food species like corn or cattle. Some of them have become invasive like pines intended for tree farming or dogs and cats that have gone feral over the years. The native animals of Lithos are still adapted to colder temperatures and favor thick fur and stocky bodies.
The Cities
There are three major human settlements on Lithos and one "machine" city.
Cliffside isn't the largest city, but it's the oldest on the continent, and some might say it's the wealthiest. Cliffside is built on the side of a mountain that's riddled with mines and caverns. Smaller settlements and farms surround the city.
Cliffside's major export is ore and crystals. It's biggest trading partner is Barker's Spire, which is also is biggest rival. Barker's Spire is always trying to barter down the price of Cliffside's ores.
Barker's Spire is the newest of the post-war cities, but it's got quite an interesting history. It's the only city to built around a machine control tower, one that was claimed by humans years prior. The man who claimed it was known as Barker, thus giving the tower and the city its name. The tower acts as a machine repellant, and over the years the city has become a hub for the development of technology, which they sell to others at premium prices.
Barker's Spire relies a great deal on Cliffside for the ore and crystals needed for their technology, but they're discontent with the high prices.
Crown City is a smaller city, and in Mason's time it's rather low-key. The city is located on the eastern coast of the continent and surrounded by forest, making it a difficult place for machines to attack. Crown City therefore has earned a reputation as being the "peaceful" city of Lithos, It's also been called isolationist, for while they often trade lumber and food with the other cities it generally keeps to itself.
And then there's the machine city, which is often simply known as "The City". It's said that the City was built around the original Lithosian colony, but after a thousand years it'd be hard to be sure. What is known is that from outside, the City looks... normal. The few crystalsmiths who have managed to slip in have another story to tell. They speak of empty streets and spotless storefronts, all built and maintained by the machines. It's as if they're waiting for humans to return to fill the empty buildings, but it remains an eerie ghost town.
